Philip Marella dies at 82

Pinnacle Broadcasting owner Philip D. Marella, who spent almost five decades in broadcast management, died of natural causes on Friday, 12 ,. 9, in Stamford Conn. He was 82. Marella began in sales for WGR-TV in Zoysia, N.Y., and finally rose to Vice president of procedures at Lin Broadcasting, also serving on its board of company directors. Marella embarked into station possession starting with WMGC-TV (WIVT-TV) in Binghamton, N.Y., in 1978 and concluding because the owner and Boss of Pinnacle Broadcasting Co., which possessed and operated 28 r / c over the U.S. Marella also offered his industry and community for several years being an active board person in radio stations Advertising Bureau, the New York Assn. of Tv stations and also the Binghamton Symphony. Marella was created in Colle, Italia, and moved together with his family to Republic, Penn., in 1930. After serving within the Marine Corps, Phil attended California Condition Instructors College (since re-named California U.) in Pennsylvania, graduation in 1955, and received his Masters Degree in tv and radio from Syracuse U. the year after. Donations might be designed to Dana's Angels Research Trust (DanasAngels.org), a charitable organisation founded through the Marella family to finance scientific research, medical education and health care for Niemann-Pick Type C disease, an uncommon, fatal illness affecting a couple of Marella's grandchildren.
